The children have been using pathetic fallacy and show, not tell, in their writing.

Pathetic fallacy is when the author brings the weather alive using human traits. Show, not tell, is a writing technique where you show character’s emotions; for example:  her lips were shivering shows the reader that she is cold.

The children also had to link the weather to the emotions of the character in the story.
