Welcome to Year 5!
In Year 5 we work extremely hard but like to have lots of fun as well. This term we will be learning about Ancient Greece and in Science we will be exploring the universe and all it has to offer.
Mr Harvey teaches Althorp and Miss Stretton teaches Isham. Also we are very lucky to have Mrs Williams, Mrs Sidebottom and Miss Thompson, who are our teaching assistants. Mr Dalton and Mrs Lightfoot teach us R. E., French, Music and Maths when Mr Harvey and Miss Stretton are not in class.
In Year 5 we are encouraged to become even more organised and independent so that we are ready for Year 6. This includes having the right equipment and books with us on the correct day! Whilst children are encouraged to read more independently, they are still encouraged to read with their parents too. We have weekly spelling tests on a Wednesday and the new spellings will go out on a Friday.
Our homework consists of spellings, time’s tables, reading and topic work. Homework is usually given out on a Friday.
Our P.E. days are on Tuesday and Thursday so we must make sure that we have the correct P.E. kit with us and that we tie our hair back and remove our ear-rings.
