Years 5 & 6

 

Mrs Worth, Mrs McDermott, Mrs Connors and Mr Harvey are excited to be welcoming you to Years 5 & 6.

In Year 5/6, you will be supported by Mrs Williams and Mrs Tipler. Mrs Richards and Mr Dalton, our HLTAs, will also be seen throughout the week, teaching various sessions such as PE and Spanish.

We are looking forward to a fantastic year, with lots of exciting opportunities planned. Our termly Curriculum Overviews highlight which subjects and units will be taught.

PE for Grendon is on a Tuesday afternoon and a Wednesday morning.

PE for Lamport is on a Tuesday afternoon and a Wednesday afternoon.

PE for Althorp is on a Wednesday afternoon and a Thursday morning.

Please ensure jewellery is removed, hair is tied back and that PE kit is in school.

Reading for pleasure is extremely important for educational purposes and personal development. It is expected that children will read 5 times a week, for at least 10 minutes. This needs to be evidenced in their reading records. Children can write in the date and book title, but a parent comment and signature is appreciated.

Children also need to be accessing Times Tables Rockstars 5 times a week, for a minimum of 5 minutes. Times tables knowledge is a vital maths skill and helps children with their learning across all maths units.

Weekly Maths and English homework will be set on a Friday, and due in on the following Tuesday; this allows time for the homework to be marked before new pieces being set. Maths will usually be set through MyMaths, and the English will usually be on a printed sheet. Parental support is much appreciated. Please do let us know if there are any issues regarding homework.

For those children that complete 80% of their homework, there will be a termly treat, alongside extra dojos.
