Welcome to Our Year 1 and 2 Class
A warm welcome to all children and families joining our Year 1 and 2 mixed class. This is an exciting time as everyone continues their learning journey together, building on the wonderful experiences from Reception/ Year 1 and moving forward with confidence.
In our class, every child is supported and encouraged as they grow, learn, and explore new ideas. The curriculum is carefully designed to build upon what has already been learned, while introducing new and stimulating opportunities that inspire curiosity and creativity.

Throughout the year, children will be guided through a range of engaging activities and topics, helping them to develop important skills and a love of learning. The transition between year groups is thoughtfully planned, ensuring that each child feels happy, secure, and ready to take on new challenges.

We are looking forward to a fantastic year filled with discovery, friendship, and achievement. Together, we will make this a memorable and successful time for everyone in our Year 1 and 2 class.

In Year 1 and 2, the class teachers are Mrs Hodson, Mrs Hill and Miss Jones. They are supported by both Miss Wood and Miss Williams. Mrs Lightfoot, Mr Dalton and Mrs Richards will be covering during the week, so you may see their faces at the end of the day!

Reading
It is expected that children read at home at least five times per week. Regular reading helps to build confidence, improve understanding, and foster a lifelong love of books.
Please support this important part of learning by making time for reading together each week.
The children will be able to change their reading book every Monday and Thursday if they have read at home and the diary has been signed. They will need to bring their reading journals in every day as the children will also have lots of opportunities to read and enjoy books throughout the week at school.

PE
PE lessons take place on different days for each class. To ensure that children are always prepared, it is recommended that PE kits are left in school throughout the term. This way, kits are always handy and ready for use. Please make sure that all items, including PE kits and school uniform, are clearly named to help keep belongings safe and easy to identify.
On your child’s PE day please ensure they come to school with hair tied back and no earrings.
